Sources in the US have indicated that Everton will be spending their preseason in the United States this summer as they appear set to participate in the International Champions Cup. The preseason tournament has confirmed four participants including the Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Inter Milan.
Four teams are currently unnamed, but it appears that the Toffees will be one of the remaining four clubs in the tournament, which is set to take place between July 27th and August 7th. Six American cities and one European city will host the tournament. The final will take place in Miami, Florida, at Sun Life Stadium. The other three teams rumored to be involved include Chelsea, AC Milan, and Benfica. Matches appear set to take place in San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as several other cities across the US.
Needless to say this will be a fantastic opportunity for Everton to hit the ground running this preseason. With a new manager and the potential for some real turnover in the squad, matches against such high-caliber opponents can only help the Toffees as they head towards another EPL season.
We will have more information as it becomes available on the International Champions Cup, as well as plans for potential meetups for fellow Evertonians.
