It's Big, It's Blue.. It's Friday ToffeeLinks!

After a long hiatus, ToffeeLinks is back with a bang, and lots of Everton news too.

Kone done for the year?

We'll start with some late breaking news from last Sunday's game between Everton and Tottenham - primarily the collision between Romelu Lukaku and Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.

Andre Villas-Boas has an 'astonishing' reaction to the criticism leveled at him

AVB was roundly criticized by members of the football community after not substituting a clearly dazed Lloris during the game. It later came to light that Lloris was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion as well. The dapper manager, instead of taking the blame, chose to attack Lukaku instead in an attempt to deflect the negative press.

Roberto Martinez to back concussion rule changes

Meanwhile, the Everton manager said that he would defer to medical opinion on whether a player should continue or not after a head injury. He also noted that Lukaku had recovered from a midweek training injury and would play Saturday.

Speaking of injuries, some more news on Arouna Kone.

Kone to undergo knee surgery

The Blues striker could face an extended layoff after being told this week that his knee cartilage issue would need to be operated on. It is quite possible that he might be done for the season.

On to this weekend's game at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

Match Preview from Everton.com

Caretaker manager Keith Millen will be in charge for the home side after Ian Holloway left by mutual consent a month ago. The Eagles are currently at the bottom of the table.

Everton at Palace sold out

This might be Millen's last game in charge with the international break coming up, and the fans could show up in droves to support the manager.

Leon Osman matches a monumental landmark, set by Dixie Dean!

Yes you read that right. Osman's goal against Aston Villa gave him his eleventh consecutive season with a goal in the top flight, a mark set by none other than the great Dixie Dean. Dixie's record was actually fourteen seasons, a record unlikely to ever be broken. Ossie joins legendary defender Dave Watson in the books, tied for second place.

Ross Barkley to get opportunity to shine for England

While some of the Barkley hype has died down in recent weeks, there is news circulating that England boss Roy Hodgson could have him feature against both Chile and Germany during the international break.

Finally, no edition of Toffeelinks can ever be considered complete without some transfer rumours, especially with the news that Kone could be done for the year, Darron Gibson still faces a long time out and Antolin Alcaraz is yet to feature for the club.

Everton in for ex-Norway U-21 midfielder?

The latest ones have the Blues contending for Manchester City's Abdisalam Ibrahim, along with Hull City, Palace and a host of European sides. The 22-yr old has only featured for the Citizens once, been out on loan thrice, and has reportedly been told to find a new club during the January transfer window.

Aiden McGeady looking for England move?

Rumour has it that the Ireland winger has rejected offers of a new deal with Spartak Moscow where he currently plays and could move to the Premier League on a free transfer at the end of the season. Villa and Fulham are also reported to be interested in the former Celtic star.
