Looking Ahead: Everton in August 2012

With the advent of a new season of the Barclays Premier League upon us, this is a segment that will look ahead in a nutshell at the upcoming schedule for Everton on a monthly basis.

Everton start off their year on Monday, August 20th with a home opener against Manchester United. With the thrilling 4-4 comeback at Old Trafford earlier in the year still fresh in the minds of both teams, this should be a rollicking start to the season and worthy of its top billing as the last game of the first round of matches.

The Toffees then travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa on Saturday the 25th. Victor Anichebe had netted the equalizer for a 1-1 score in the corresponding fixture. Villa are in a rebuilding mode with manager Paul Lambert after Martin O'Neill had parted ways with the club last season.

The 2012-13 League Cup (known as the Capital One Cup this year) gets underway the following week with Everton hosting Leyton Orient in a second round fixture on Tuesday, 28th. Orient made it to the second round after beating Charlton Athletic on penalties 1-1.
