On Monday of this week, Landon Donovan appeared in the Everton Two store to meet fans.
The queue to meet him was strong on numbers come 5pm - when he was due to begin signing -but, but six hardy fans had begun queuing three hours previously, one of whom travelled 3 hours from south Birmingham just to meet the American.
The general consensus in the line was that this would be the last chance they would get to meet the American international given his loan deal from LA Galaxy due to expire at the end of the month. However, when asked the question on whether there is any possibility of his return Landon replied:
"I'm more than hopeful of a return, I've loved playing for Everton and I wouldn't rule it out".
The signing session was due to finish at 6pm, but Donovan stayed until 6.30pm to make sure all the fans got what they came for and sent them all home happy.
Landon had earlier told BBC Radio Merseyside, how easy he found it to settle in this time round.
"Last time I came over it was easy. I'm not sure why, but this time it was even easier.
"I got here just before New Year and I was able to travel with the team to the West Brom game and just be around the guys and take it all in again.
“That was a big boost going into the Bolton game and I felt really comfortable".
We can only live in hope he signs a new extended loan contract and maybe even a permanent deal. Though with Everton’s notoriously tight finances it appears unlikely that the club could finance a deal, however popular it would be with the supporters.
