A few weeks ago, RBM ran a very simple competition to win a pair of tickets for this weekends 219th Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park thanks to the guys at Thomas Cook Sports. The prize? Two tickets for the Main Stand along with Accomodation in a City Centre hotel after the game. The lucky winner was Linda from Lydiate. I caught up with her to ask her a few questions following her win.
First of all, well done on winning the competition. What was your first reaction when you found out you had won?
I was so excited I had won & a nice surprise to also have the hotel stay - an extra birthday present for me!
A pretty good prize to win from Thomas Cook Sports – was it easy to win? What did you have to do?
Yes. I had to reveal the scorers last time we beat Liverpool.
You told me that you don’t go to the game as often as you used to, when was your last match?
No we don't. We were season ticket holders but unfortunately it became too expensive. The last game we went to was the last game of last season against Newcastle.
Who will you be taking to this game as your guest?
My Husband Ian. He was the one who took me to my very first game 35 years ago.
He must be delighted – what was his reaction when you told him?
I rang him immediately in work to tell him the great news. He was thrilled!
What do you think about the start we have made this season?
We have been fantastic in the league. The football we are playing takes me back to the 1984/85 season - great attractive football.
Do you think we can keep it up?
All we can do is hope we can continue this run, keep hold of all our players and keep injury free.
Where do you see us finishing the season?
Hopefully a European qualification place.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing?
All of the team but my favourite is Marouane Fellaini.
Many of the writers on Royal Blue Mersey want David Moyes to go for the Liverpool jugular. Do you agree or do you think we should be more cautious?
I hope so. Sometimes you get the impression they are afraid to come out and play against them. If we play like we have been then lets hope we get a result.
Do you have any words to say to the providers of the prize, Thomas Cook Sports?
Yes thank you so much for this amazing prize.
Finally, give us a prediction for the game:
Hopefully an Everton win.
