Everton International Round Up

Beginning with the Euro 2012 Qualifiers and at Wembley, Phil Jagielka was an unused substitute as England staggered to a 1-0 win over a very efficient Welsh team who's FIFA Ranking of 113th looked completely off the mark. Leighton Baines withdrew of course and is a doubt for Saturday.

John Heitinga played the full 90 minutes as the Dutch beat Finland in Helsinki by two goals to nil, while in an earlier kick off Diniyar Bilyaletdinov came off the bench for the last 20 minutes as Russia and Rep of Ireland drew 0-0.  Jan Mucha's Slovakia were embarrassed at home by Armenia, the Goodison keeper letting in 4 without reply (and destroying my betting slip in the process!).

Team mates Marouane Fellaini and Tim Howard faced each other in Brussels, the Belgian grabbing the spoils with an assist as his side won 1-0.  Fellaini was replaced on the hour.

Tim Cahill got the last four minutes as Australia beat Saudi Arabia 3-1 in a qualifier for World Cup 2014 after he was dropped from the team which played at the weekend.

In Under 21 action of note, Ross Barkley played 73 minutes and was arguably England's best player as they come back from a goal down at half time to see off Israel 3-1 in a friendly.  Jack Rodwell captained the team but will be disappointed in his performance.  Rodwell was replaced at half time. Shane Duffy came on in the second half as the Rep of Ireland were beaten by Turkey in their qualifier.
