Arsenal are rumoured to have made a £10million bid for Mikel Arteta while striker Denis Stracqualuisi is due at Finch Farm for a medical ahead of a loan deal from Tigre.
More after the jump
Sky Sports is reporting that Yakubu has left Everton’s training ground, apparently destined for Blackburn, who he rejected just 24 hours earlier.
Joseph Yobo though could be staying at Goodison. With Fenerbahce dealing with their match-fixing crisis it Moyes had admitted the Nigerian defender would be welcomed and re-integrated into the squad – just like a new signing!
Other loan deals include the temporary departures of Shane Duffy and Jose Baxter, which I
believe would be beneficial for both players as they look to continue their development.
**Update* * Shane Duffy has joned Scunthorpe on loan.
Will any of those deals free up funds for a loan signing? I doubt it, even if the Yak’s £40,000+ wages are lifted from the wage bill it appears funds are so tight no-one is allowed to come in.
And would the bank let us spend the majority of the £5million for Beckford or £10million for Arteta? Probably not, so there would be no point in selling them.
However, with Moyes admitting every player has his price, it could be a nervous few hours as we wait and see whether his squad will be reduced still further.
The likes of Arteta, Phil Jagielka, Marouane Fellaini, have all been linked with big money moves away and if that happened, it could prove disasterous to our season as we would have little time to replace them.
