After my email a few weeks ago to Mr Elstone, he unsurprisingly declined to respond. It was then brought to my attention that he had posted a blog. I know that has already been looked at on this site so I'm not going to pick it to bits - you can probably do that yourself and come up with the same stuff as I. Added to the fact that many blues are saying that they posted a direct question in the "Your Comments" section at the bottom of the blog which were subsequently removed by the club's admin staff I decided to send Mr Elstone an email.
This email was sent as the game at Bury was happening, and after I had just come in from a round of golf.
Mr Elstone
A few weeks back I emailed you with a few questions which I would have liked to be addressed. I didn’t receive a response despite you responding to previous emails regarding season ticket issues.
The main point of my email wasn’t the lack of signings or investment, it was the lack of communication with the people.
I would just like to thank you for your most recent blog. Although I could pick it to bits and create a whole new list of questions, and despite having issue with many of the things posted, I am not going to do that at this point. Instead, I express my thanks at finally communicating to all of our fans in general and hope that you would do this more frequently in the future.
Regards
Darren Melling
To my surprise, as I watch the Open my computer beeps and an email from Robert Elstone (Everton) arrives:
Darren
Glad we're making progress!

Robert
I then reply:
Thanks for your reply Mr Elstone, although I wouldn’t exactly call it progress!!
I have just read that we played the last 30 minutes of the game last night with 10 players on the pitch. Now I know we have a big squad in Russia for the invitational, but surely this is a slap in the face if ever there was one needed to invest in the playing squad at the managers’ disposal. Example – Sebastien Larsson. Fee? There wasn’t one paid to his club.
I just think you need to be a little bit more open and honest with the fans. If we went for Larsson and were unsuccessful, say so. The fans will accept this. If we are in for N’Zogbia, say so. At the moment the fans are being kept in the dark, and your blog stated that investment in the club, particularly commercially, was on the up. Great news, and well done you for such investment. I couldn’t help but notice you say we need to fill seats. It’s my understanding that season ticket sales are down. If I’m wrong please correct me. If I’m right, then one way of rectifying this is to keep the fans in constant touch with potential incoming improvements to the playing squad. Right now, it seems there are none.
Come On You Blues is absolutely spot on, and Nil Satis Nisi Optimum is what we collectively want.
Darren
I dont expect a reply to this email. I'm thinking I should ask him to do an interview with me. What do you reckon?
