ToffeeLinks 04/10/11: Rumors on Silva Leaving and a New Signing

The last couple of weeks, there have been very little news (that we cared about anyway) surrounding Everton. That has finally changed with some rumors and news that can really affect the future of Everton, which calls for another edition of ToffeeLinks.

Silva open to offers | Sky Sports
Joao Silva is determined to find regular football and admits he would be willing to leave Everton in order to get games.

** Silva doesn't seem too happy about his lack of first team football at Everton. The rumors are that benfica are ready to swoop him and snatch him up. I don't want to lose him. He definitely has tons of talent and has shown with his scoring rate while on loan. He is still young and needs to wait for the right time. He will get his chance if he is patient. We don't have a plethora of strikers, so I feel it would make more sense for him to stay rather than go to a club like Benfica, where he would be closer to home, but they already have very strong strikers in Oscar Cardozo and Javier Saviola and young/up and coming strikers in Nolito and Rodrigo.

AFP: Everton's Cahill ruled out of Australia squad
** This is good news. He desperately needs the rest. Medical staff already stated that he played through pain against Liverpool. I know Australia need him, but if they can't beat Oman and Malaysia without him, they don't deserve to be in the World Cup.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner rules out ground share with Everton - MirrorFootball.co.uk
** Seems like there is no chance for this to happen anymore. I never was a huge fan of groundsharing, but it would have been nice to have the option if we really could do nothing else. But it seems like Liverpool will never do this.

And some very exciting news, since we haven't added someone to our club in what seems like 10 years:

BBC Sport - Everton sign Bradford's George Green, 15, in reported £2m deal
Everton pay a reported fee of £2m to sign 15-year-old midfielder George Green from Bradford City.

** This is a pretty huge some for a young player. The inital fee is around £300,000 or so that can rise to the £2 million. A lot of big time clubs were after Green so it looks like he was highly rated by everyone. Still seems like a big gamble given the uncertainty and the age of Green.
