Everton will participate in the Premier League International Cup for the second consecutive season, having been drawn alongside Porto, Schalke 04 and Tottenham Hotspur in the group stages.
The young Blues reached the quarter-finals of the competition last campaign but ultimately fell to Leicester City on penalties.
A late Sylvain Distin header was needed to see off Sunderland, ensuring passage from their group after a draw against Celtic and a home loss to Villarreal.
Both Schalke and Porto also took part in the International Cup last season, with the latter reaching the final in which they fell 1-0 to winners Manchester City, while Spurs will be making their tournament bow.
Their first game will come against their fellow U21 Premier League Division 1 side on Monday, 31 August, and like all home games in the competition will be played at Goodison Park.
The under-21s be forced to wait until Tuesday, 20 October for the second game when Schalke come to town, and they entertain Porto just a little over a month later on Sunday, 22 November.
There are four groups, with Everton in Group B, and the top two from each one will advance to the quarter-finals.
The league campaign also begins away to Tottenham on Monday, with a 12pm kick-off time.
