ESPN's Taylor Twellman sent out a tweet on Wednesday claiming that Tim Howard is preparing to extend his contract with Everton.
Now, before you write this off as Twitter gossip, it's important to know that Twellman has broke several stories over the past year, and appears to have some good connections with information like this. In January, Twellman tweeted that Michael Bradley would sign with Toronto FC, and sure enough a few weeks later, the deal was announced.
Here's Twellman's tweet:
Hearing #USMNT rumor: Tim Howard is set to extend his contract with @Everton after a great season so far under Martinez.

Tim Howard has been a solid, loyal member of the Blues since joining the club from Manchester United in 2006. His performance level dipped a bit last season, but under Roberto Martinez, the US International is playing some of the football of his career.
There had been rumors that Howard might consider a return to MLS, possibly joining New York City FC when that expansion franchise begins play. Howard began his professional career with the NY/NJ MetroStars (now New York Red Bulls), playing six seasons before signing with United.
