Landon Donovan To Return To Everton?

Clive Mason

In what would be his third appearance, Landon Donovan looks set to return to Merseyside on a winter loan.Several sources are reporting that talks are in an advanced stage between Landon Donovan and Everton for a loan spell that would surely break some kind of record amongst the stats no one cares about.

The American winger is currently in the MLS offseason after his Los Angeles Galaxy were dumped out of the playoffs, and is looking to stay sharp ahead of America's trip to Brazil for the World Cup. His original loan in 2010 to Everton was with the same idea in mind.

Donovan has become a fan favorite at Goodison after his succesful loan spells. In 2010 his arrival coincided with several fantastic January victories that helped turn the Toffees season around, and in 2012 he followed up with another spectacular loan.

While Donovan speculation swirls around Everton during every January transfer window, reports seem to be a bit more substantial this time around. Factoring in Roberto Martinez's reluctance to spend in January and this rumor makes even more sense. Look for any potential move to be announced in the next several weeks with Donovan joining up in the New Year.
