After the festive month of December which went pretty well for Everton, January is another busy month with FA Cup action thrown in as well, a total of five games on the slate.
Everton start off with an away game on Wednesday, 2nd January at St. James Park to play against Newcastle who have been struggling lately. The Toons are foundering in 15th place, and it's ironic that their woes seem to start after manager Alan Pardew got handed an 8-year contract.
Next is the 3rd Round FA Cup game away at Cheltenham Town, who play at 7,066-seater Whaddon Road. This is a rare Monday game and hopefully will be on television.
And then they go on the road again to play the Saints on 21st January. Southampton are struggling in 18th place, and Everton must leave St. Mary's with three points.
To finish off the month is a home game against West Bromwich Albion, one of three teams to have beaten Everton this season. The Albion and Everton have been neck-and-neck for the European spots on the Premier league table, and this could be a crucial game for both team's fortunes.
