Everton v Birmingham - match off!!

So depsite all the hard-work by the ground-staff this week to clear the pitch and the surrounding streets of snow and ice, pesky frozen water pipes have forced the Toffees to call off today's game with Birmingham.

The inquest will now doubt begin as it is a tad embarrassing for the club given all the work that has gone on this week. The Boxing Day game is usually one of the biggest attendances of the season - and therefore the most lucrative. With the match probably re-arranged for a midweek sometime the club will no doubt lose some much needed cash.

Football-wise it stops us from building on the momentum gained after the excellent Man City win. The positive is that the players should be fresh for the matches against West Ham and Stoke later in the week.

Though with the game now off off you can all go back to your turkey sandwiches!

I would also like to say thanks to everyone who contributed to the site over the year. We are just getting started and hopefully we can go on to bigger and better things in the coming year - just like Everton!

I hope you all had an excellent Christmas, that Santa delivered, and all the best for a fruitful 2011.

Up the Toffees!
